From the Beginning

A STORY OF "TIME" by Trevor Topsfield

Fellowship – In or Out

Fellowship with God – the state of being at one with him.

To enjoy this fellowship we need to employ the Spiritual life we received at the time of our salvation. When our Spiritual life is functioning the “Holy Spirit” takes our knowledge of God and uses it to produce righteousness, this comes in the form “love, joy, peace ect. as stated in Galatians 5:22.

To get out of this relationship is as simple as committing any form of imperfection, because God can have no contact with any imperfection he breaks off his contact with us so we are out of fellowship. It must be mentioned that God expects this to happen because we have inherited a sinful body from Adam and this affects our thinking. It is a fact of life all believers need to face.

God expects us to commit sins or imperfections, it is a natural result of our sinfulness and nothing shocks him. However the result of our sinfulness is Spiritual death we all inherited from our father, which infers we were born with it.

Romans 6:23

(oiwnia nominative-subject plural. wages)

(tys definite article. the)

(hamartias genitive-indicates possession singular. This is sinfulness as a principle)

(Canatos a noun.  death)

The wages of sinfulness is death. This death is life without God or being out of fellowship.

It is important to note there are two Greek words for the English word “sin”.

“Hamartanw” άμαρτανω is a particular sin we do; “hamartia” άμαρτια is the sinfulness we are.

When we commit sins we demonstrate we have failed the glory or standard set by God, then we are out of fellowship.

There is a procedure to regain our fellowship with God.

If we confess the sinfulness of ours, he is righteous so he might pardon the sinfulness and cleanse us separating from all unrighteousness.

If we acknowledge our sinfulness we are saying that we realise we have not maintained God’s perfect standard which we respect. With respect re-established then we are back in fellowship and separated from any unrighteousness. God is God to us again, therefore we can once more function under the filling of the Holy Spirit.

Just to make sure we get the message John gives us an example of how it works.

Committing a sin not unto death means it is not sinfulness that is in focus, but doing some imperfection or sin that violates God’s perfect standard. (Remember it is sinfulness that causes our death, not the sins we commit. However, the sins we commit makes us aware of our sinfulness and our Spiritual death.)

If a certain one he should see the brother of his sinning sinfulness not unto death, he will ask and it will be given him life for the sinning not unto death. It exist sinfulness unto death, not concerning this here he might speak.

By committing a sin from our sinfulness we can recognise we are out of fellowship and therefore it is time to do something about it to regain our Spiritual life. Remember, if the Holy Spirit was using our knowledge of God to produce perfection we would not have committed a sin.

If we learn the lesson that by committing a sin we are out of fellowship and we apply the solution, then that sin resulted in regaining life.

Our sinfulness can’t be helped; we inherited that from our fathers, but if we confess or acknowledge our sinfulness that our action demonstrated. God will forgive the sin we committed, separate us from our sinfulness, which puts us back in fellowship again.
